Full-Time Employment
Company: Navy posted: 08/31/05
location: Engineering Expo September 12th-14th
Contact: Byrne, Mathew LT. (ByrneM@cnrc.navy.mil)
My name is Matt Byrne, and I am an Officer Recruiter at Navy Recruiting District Chicago. I and the rest of the Navy Officer Programs recruiting team will be in Champaign for the Engineering Employment Expo from September 12th-14th, and I wanted to inquire about the possibility of setting up a event to educate the members of NSBE about the opportunities available as Navy officers, particularly in the Civil Engineer Corps (CEC) and Nuclear Propulsion programs. The programs are not limited to just Civil or Nuclear engineers, and all students can benefit, not just seniors. Both officer communities have collegiate programs that offer full Navy pay and benefits for up to 30 months of college, with no requirements other than to maintain good grades. After graduation, the Navy offers competitive salaries, exciting and meaningful work, and management experience unmatched by any civilian company.
I propose to schedule the round table for the late afternoon or evening of Monday, September 12th. Ideally, the event would consist of short presentations about the CEC and Nuclear programs, followed by a Q and A session. Alternatively, we could try for Wednesday the 14th, or if that doesn't work, another day of your choosing. The Navy, of course, would provide food and beverages for the event. As I mentioned above, students can apply for the programs up to 30 months before graduation, so undergraduates and seniors alike are welcome and encouraged to attend.
