The Regional Leadership Conference, The Fall Regional Conference, and the National Convention. For more info contact the chapter President. Resume Workshop Each year we have an ACTIVE resume workshop in one of the campus EWS labs. All participants are asked to bring a WORKING copy of their resume, so that alterations can be made to your resume during the workshop. At the conclusion of the workshop participants will be asked to upload their resumes to the MEP system as well as print out one copy of their resume. Food will be served. For dates please contact the Academic Excellence person. Registration Info Session This will occur in November before spring registration. The purpose of this session is to answer questions about what classes/professors are best to take for the upcoming spring semester. for dates please refer to calendar or email Academic Excellence person.
Study Hours Sun, Mon, & Wed, rm. 333 Grainger Library, 7 pm-close (24 hours everyday during finals week). If room is closed ask for key at circulation desk. In addition to this specific subject study hours will occur on the following days and times: Undergraduate Students In Technical Research (USTR) Competition This is a competition that takes place at Fall Conference each year. There are monetary prizes for winning, so if you did research (i.e. through SROP, MCNAIR, or INDEPENDENTLY, ETC.) or are doing research and want to compete for MONEY and a discounted trip to NATIONALS please let me know. The deadline is October 24, 2004 and this includes abstract completion. Academic Tech Bowl Team The objective of the Academic Technical Bowl is to encourage and showcase Academic Excellence and understanding of the fundamental principles of engineering covered in the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) Examination. Program participation occurs through healthy competition in a “Jeopardy!” style game show format. Questions cover a wide variety of topics, from NSBE and African American Scientists and Inventors history to general engineering and science curricula from the FE/EIT. Each team consists of four (4) members (including at most one graduate student) and one alternate, who represent their NSBE Chapter. Regional Technical Bowl competitions will be held at the Fall Regional Conferences, and the winning team from each region will compete for the national title at the National Convention.
The UIUC NSBE chapter is constantly looking to recruit, retain, and graduate Black engineering students. With this goal in mind the JEB acts as an "intro" to NSBE. This group of individuals is composed of freshmen who create bonds with one another as they learn the ropes of the university and seek to become future leaders of NSBE. Some of the JEB activities include and certainly are not limited to: -Bi-weekly meetings -African-American Quiz Bowl Competition (Feb) -Chapter T-Shirt design contest -Conferences -Fundraisers -Illinite Events Interested in joining?!?!?!?!? contact Vice President |
